I've been in a reflective mood for the past couple of weeks. I guess getting old will do that to a person. For today, I wanted to share another great Madonna ballad. From 2001, here is the live performance of GONE, from Madonna's 2000 album release, MUSIC. Enjoy.

Madonna Music Monday - 03/11/2013
It's fair to say that Madonna's LIKE A PRAYER album is one of my all-time fave albums. I think it has to do the personal nature of the songs on this album. The loss of her father, the end of her marriage, the search for guidance, the importance of family. These are just a few of the themes expressed in these songs. And without question, my fave song from this album is Express Yourself. It's a gay anthem. It's validation of self-worth. It's an anti-bullying rally. It's Pop Music at its best. So for today, I wanted to share the 1st live performance of this song. Madonna first performed Express Yourself at the 1989 MTV Music Video Awards. This performance would be a sneak peak of Madonna's up-coming Blond Ambition Tour, which will be Madonna's best concert tour. EVER!!! Enjoy!

Madonna Music Monday - 03/04/2013
This week marks the 15th anniversary of the release of Madonna's personal and very spiritual album, Ray of Light. After giving birth to her daughter Lourdes, Madonna started looking at electronic music as a way to express what she was going thru in her life. Where LIKE A PRAYER was the search for guidance, Ray of Light was the acceptance of the journey. Many regard Ray of Light as Madonna's best album. To tie the album to historical events, the song SWIM was recorded the day that fashion desinger, and close friend to Madonna, Gianni Versace was killed. You can hear the emotional impact of the event in this track. So here is the video for the title track of the Grammy award-winning album, Ray of Light. Enjoy!
