My Disney Collection...04/28/2011

It's safe to say, whenever I'm at a Disney theme park, I tend to buy many souvenirs. On every trip, I tend to buy three items: a tee-shirt, some pins and Mickey Ears. It seems I've collected quite a collection over the years. So for today's posting, I would like to share my Mickey Ears collection with you.

This is actually a baseball cap style hat. This is was one of the 1st Ears I ever bought. They are actually quite comfortable, but not good to wear on a hot sunny Florida day!

These next two Ears are from Disneyland's Golden Anniversary. One for Disneyland, the other for Walt Disney World. My 1st visit to Disneyland was during this celebration. I know what your saying. What took you so long???

The next set comes from Disney's Year of a Million Dreams promotion. While I was at Disneyland, I was lucky to win Dream Fast Passes. TWICE!!! The Ears light up with a switch in the back. They make a nice effect.

These ears also come from the Year of a Million Dreams celebration. If you look closely, you can see LED lights surrounding the Castle. When turned on, the lights makes a pixie-dust type effect. I think I need to replace the batteries. Or maybe the Ears have lost their Magic! LOL!

These next Ears came from the DVC Store that opened in near-by Schaumburg. They were given out on opening day.

These Ears I got for St. Patrick's Day 2006. A friend of mine sent me these Ears from Walt Disney World. I have not seen these Ears in the following years, but I could be wrong.

Now this is one of my favorite Ears. As you can tell, they are themed after the classic attraction, The Haunted Mansion. This is my favorite attraction. The Disneyland attraction opened the year I was born, 1969. I especially like the ghost images on the ears.

These ears I got last year for Disneyland's 55th Anniversary. I love how colorful these Ears are. But I especially love how it has Pinocchio on the one ear. Pinocchio is one of my favorite films.

These next Ears I bought at the Disney Outlet Store near Disneyland. As you can see, they show Mickey Mouse over the years. They are very cute and they only cost a couple bucks. Of course I had to have them in my collection.

Recently, Disney started a new 'create your own' line of Mickey Ears. You pick the ears, hat, patches and other items to make your own personalized Ears. I just wanted to make a fun set of Ears that I could where anywhere. I think they came out very nice.

Every once in awhile I like to dress up like a Pirate. Don't ask why, I just do. So if I'm going to dress like a Pirate, then I need Pirate Mickey Ears. I found these two years ago while attending Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I love wearing these Ears. I wear them for Halloween, Mardi Gras and of course while riding the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. I LOVE THEM!!!

These are pretty simple ears. It just says Disneyland Resort in gold on black. What I like about these ears is that there is a small gold embroidered Mickey on the back. Simple and classic.

Last but not least, these are my classic Mickey Ears from Disneyland. As a kid watching the Mickey Mouse Club, seeing the Mouseketeers with their Mickey Ears, I always wanted my own set of Ears. Well it might have taken almost 40 years, but I finally did get my Mickey Ears. And yes, they have my name on the back. This summer I plan to get a Disney World version of the Ears. Unless I see something else I like. There's always something else I like. Thanks for letting me share my collection. Enjoy!

Madonna Music Monday - 04/25/2011

Well yesterday was Easter and I spent the day with family. Eating too much food and watching a lot of TV. One of the films that I watched yesterday was the film adaptation of the classic comic strip, Dick Tracy. The film stars Warren Beatty as Dick Tracy and Madonna as Breathless Mahoney. Its actually a very good film. Plus the ending of the film always gets to me. For the film, Madonna supplied various songs for the soundtrack. Here is a movie montage set to one of those songs. Here is Madonna singing the very cheeky song, MORE. Enjoy!

Madonna Music Tuesday - 04/19/2011

Well I'm a day late with my Madonna selection because I was too tired. On Sunday I had stayed up late watching Duran Duran perform at the Coachella Music Festival. They were so good. It's amazing how alot 80's singers and bands are in the spot-light lately. To me, 80's music is TIMELESS.

That's why I love Madonna and her music. It will always be a part of my life. It will always bring me joy whenever I hear her music. Today's song is a classic. This song might be considered a 'message song', but to me it's one of the greatest pop songs ever produced. Today's song is PAPA DON'T PREACH from the amazing True Blue album. Enjoy!!!

My Disney Collection...04/17/2011

So the other day I was doing some used LP shopping at the local Good Will store. Then I wondered over to the children's book section where I found my next Disney treasure. It's a mini art print of a scene from Disney's classic movie SLEEPING BEAUTY.

Without question, Sleeping Beauty is one of my favorite films. I love the whole 'look' of the film. The color choices, the back-ground scenes, the dark feel of the film. I also love the sound and score of the film. Sleeping Beauty was the 3rd Disney film made based on a fairy tale.

As you can see, the rich details of the background really stand out. I love the contrast in colors of the woods and that of Aurora. This is really a beautiful print. And I bought this for only a couple bucks. Now I just have to find a nice frame for this. I really want to take care of this print.

My Disney Collection...04/14/2011

Whenever I go on a Disney vacation, there are two things I always buy: Mickey Ears and Disney Pins. I buy all kinds of pins: attraction pins, holiday pins, special event pins and charcter pins. But unlike some people, when I buy pins I don't plan to trade them. I know pin trading is a HUGE deal, but I could never trade the pins I buy. I've recently bought some shadow-boxes so that I can display my pins. Here is the 1st display I made. Enjoy!

Madonna Music Monday - 04/11/2011

If there is one thing I love about Madonna, its how she presents her music in a live setting. Some of my fave Madonna performances were those that she performed for MTV. My all-time favorite is when Madonna 1st performed EXPRESS YOURSELF on the MTV Video Music Awards in 1989. The performance is just AMAZING. From the choreography, the costumes and her singing, it just all goes together perfectly. Of course this would be a preview of the opening for her upcoming Blond Ambition Tour in 1990. So here is the 1st live performance of Express Yourself. Enjoy!

Gran Fiesta Tour - EPCOT - Walt Disney World

If there's anything that I love more than Disney, its anything Latin and Disney! That's why I love the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot. I also love the Gran Fiesta Tour ride. I have always loved the fact that Walt Disney incorporated Latin themes in some of his films, especially The Three Caballeros. So here is a video I made on recent trip to Epcot while riding the Gran Fiesta Tour. Enjoy!

Madonna Music Monday - 04/04/2011

So today I couldn't decide on a particular Madonna song that I wanted to share. Instead, I decided to showcase Madonna's musicology thru a video remix. I was going thru videos on You Tube and came across this lengthy video. Its a 2010 Megamix video. Enjoy!
